Homemade Garam Masala

This homemade garam masala combines roasted cinnamon, cardamom, peppercorns, and cloves into a warm, aromatic spice blend. A little goes a long way—just a half teaspoon adds rich depth and fragrance to lentils, meats, and vegetables.

About 60 half-teaspoon servings.

Ingredients

2 oz. cinnamon sticks
2 tablespoons green cardamoms
1 tablespoon black peppercorns

Directions

  1. Break the cinnamon sticks into small pieces.
  2. Roast all the ingredients in frying pan to warm them up
  3. Blend ingredients in a coffee grinder.
  4. Store in an air-tight jar.
